Summary Fast Notes lets you build an SD at speed. You type section headers and notes one after another, pressing Enter after each one, and each drops straight into the SD. Then you drag them into order. It suits rapid note taking, meeting minutes and brainstorming, where the aim is to record thoughts quickly and format them later.
Steps
Step 1
Open the SD you want to fill, and find the row of purple buttons near the top of it. The Fast Notes element is the third button from the left, showing two pages.
Step 2
Click and hold the Fast Notes element, drag it down into the SD and let go. The Rapid Fire window opens over the SD, with three tabs: Notes, Headers and Builder. In it you can rapidly drop section headers and notes into the SD, to be put in order later.
Step 3
To add section headers, click Headers, the middle tab.
Step 4
Type the first header in the box under the tabs, then press Enter. The header drops into the SD behind the window, a Row/s Inserted message shows at the bottom left of the screen, and the box clears, ready for the next one.
Step 5
Type each of the other headers the same way, pressing Enter after each one. To start a new line within a header, press Shift + Enter instead.
Adding notes
Step 6
To add notes, click Notes, the left tab.
Step 7
Type a note, then press Enter. The note drops into the SD below the headers.
Step 8
Keep going: type each note and press Enter. The notes go into the SD in the order you type them.
Step 9
Type the notes for the other headers straight after, in the same box. They also go below the headers, and you move them into place later.
Step 10
Press Enter after the last note as well, and check that it shows in the SD before you close the window.
Step 11
When you're done, click the x at the top right of the Rapid Fire window. The window closes.
Putting headers and notes in order
Step 12
The SD shows the section headers at the top, with all the notes below them.
Step 13
To move a header or a note, click and hold its row, drag it to where it belongs, and let go. For example, drag the second header down to sit just above the notes that belong under it.
Tip. Fast Notes is a quick way to whip up an SD, and it suits rapid note taking, meeting minutes and brainstorming. The idea is to get your thoughts recorded quickly, so you keep a productive 'flow state', then worry about the formatting later.
