Summary In your PaT video room you can share your screen and record the meeting. Screen sharing keeps everyone aligned: without something visual to refer to, conversations can easily become unclear or hard to follow, so you can display SDs, documents, reports or any other materials to support what you're discussing. Recording is also a powerful tool. When participants know a recording will be available, they don't feel pressured to take detailed notes and can stay more present in the meeting, and it is easier for meeting hosts to encourage attendees to minimise distractions on their screens. You can share a browser tab, a window or your whole screen. Before recording, make sure everyone has agreed to be recorded, and keep the recording secure, as it may contain other people's personal information.
Steps
Step 1
Open your video room with the blue video button, a video camera, at the right end of the row of round buttons at the bottom of the screen. Its menu lists Open my room, Find a room and Send an invite. Your video room opens on a tab called my Video Room.
Sharing your screen
Step 2
In the bar at the bottom of the video room, hover over Share, the screen icon to the right of Mic, and click Share screen.
Step 3
A box opens asking what you want to share, with three options across its top: Chrome Tab, Window and Entire screen. Most users share their entire screen, so that everything is visible to others. If you know you'll only be using one tab, you can share just that tab.
Step 4
Click the option you want, then click the tab, window or screen to share in the list below it. Click Share at the bottom right of the box. Note. If you're sharing a video with sound, share a Chrome Tab: it is the only option that will transmit audio to others.
Recording the meeting
Step 5
Before you record, make sure all participants have given their consent to be recorded. Then click Record, the dot in a circle to the right of Share, to start recording the meeting.
Note. You are responsible for storing the recording securely, and for acknowledging that it may contain other people's personal information. Once you stop the recording, you'll have the option to download it directly to your device.
