Summary Your Task Wall shows your tasks grouped by when they are due, in columns from Overdue to over 30 days: the horizon view. You can minimise a group of tasks to focus on one period. Open a task from the wall to edit it, comment on it, add files, reject it, ask for a new deadline or mark it complete. You can also switch views to see the tasks you have assigned to others, your team's tasks, or your tasks by category. And you can hide escalation tasks, search for a task, refresh the wall and download your tasks to Excel.
Steps
Introduction. Your Task Wall lists the tasks you have to do. Most people check it throughout the day, to see which tasks are overdue, due today or due in the future.
Step 1
Click Task Wall at the top left of the page. The wall opens in the horizon view, where your tasks are grouped in columns by when they are due. Overdue tasks are in the first column on the left, Overdue.
Step 2
The next column, Today, holds the tasks due today.
Step 3
The third column, +24 hrs, holds the tasks due in +24 hours.
Step 4
The +48 hrs column holds the tasks due in +48 hours, and so on across the wall: 7 days, 14 days, 30 days and over 30 days. Each column is a time window in which tasks come due.
Step 5
To minimise a group of tasks, click the header at the top of its column. The column shrinks to its header, its tasks are hidden, and the arrow at the right of the header points right instead of down. This helps you focus on what is due in certain periods.
Step 6
For example, minimise the 30 days and over 30 days columns to focus on the tasks due within the next 14 days.
Working on a task
Step 7
You can also manage a task from your Task Wall. Click the task's card. Its panel opens on the right of the screen, with the task's title, Assignee and Deadline at the top.
Step 8
Some tasks, such as a recurring task you set for yourself, can be edited. To edit one, click the green edit icon (a pen on a square) in the task's details, to the left of the red X. An edit form opens in the panel.
Step 9
Change the Due Date, Title, Assignor, Assignee or Task Status as needed (the form also has a Category). Then click Update at the bottom of the panel.
Step 10
To write a comment to the person who assigned you the task (or to yourself), click the pen icon at the bottom right of the task's panel, just right of the paperclip. A comment box opens.
Step 11
Type your comment in the box. A comment is a good way to share updates on the task and keep the Assignor, or yourself, informed of your progress.
Step 12
To add files that give more context, drag them onto the Drop your file(s) here or click to add one! bar under the comment box, or click the bar to browse your device. When the comment is ready, click post comment at the bottom right.
Step 13
To reject the task, click the red X in the task's details. This sends a reject request to the task's assignor, who has to accept or reject your request.
Step 14
If you need more time to complete the task, click the orange ? to the right of the red X to request a new deadline. You have to give a reason for the request.
Step 15
When you have completed the task, click the green tick at the right of the task's details.
Step 16
For a task you set yourself, a box asks you to confirm that you wish to complete your own task. Click OK.
Other views of your Task Wall
Step 17
To see the tasks you are managing, meaning the tasks you have assigned to others, click To Manage in the row of buttons at the top right of the Task Wall. They are grouped the same way as in your To Do view: Overdue, Today, +24 hrs and so on.
Step 18
To see tasks by team member, click To Team, to the right of To Manage. Your teams are listed on the left, under My Team and My SD Teams.
Step 19
If you manage several staff, your Task Wall may include escalation tasks, triggered when others miss their deadlines. To hide them and focus on the tasks you need to complete yourself, select Excl Staff Escalations above the columns, to the left of Category and Horizon. Select Include All Tasks to show them again.
Step 20
To view your tasks by category, select Category, just above Horizon. Each category has its own column. The default category is WIP (Work In Progress).
Step 21
To add a category, click the settings icon (cogs) at the far right of the Task Wall, to the right of my Gantt. The Categories panel opens on the right.
Step 22
Click New Category at the bottom of the panel.
Step 23
Fill in the category's details (CategoryName, CategoryColor, CategoryAction and CategoryOrder), then click Save at the bottom of the panel.
Refreshing, searching and downloading
Step 24
To refresh your Task Wall, click the refresh button (two circling arrows) at the top left of the wall, to the left of the search box.
Step 25
Lost sight of a task? Type a word from its description, or any keyword, in the search description here box at the top left of the wall to find it again.
Step 26
To download your tasks into an Excel file, click the download icon just to the right of the search box.
