Summary You can complete your learning modules on your phone, in the PaT app. A notification tells you when a module is waiting. You open it from your list of modules and read it as an SD, showing and hiding its sections and asking questions in the chat beside each part. Then you take its multiple-choice quiz. If you fail, you can study again and retake it; if you fail a second time, the module locks, and your supervisor unlocks it and helps you.
Steps
Introduction. This module shows how to complete a learning module on your mobile phone, in the PaT app: finding the module, reading it, and taking its quiz.
About PaT modules. PaT includes an integrated module publisher, designed to capture and manage the organisation's intellectual property. The content is typically created by members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) or Executive Leadership Team (ELT). Testing a written module involves completing an online quiz, which you can do on a desktop PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.
Step 1
When you have a module to complete, the PaT app shows a notification: a red badge with a number on the light bulb (Modules), in the row of icons at the top of the screen. Tap the light bulb.
Step 2
The Modules page opens. It lists the modules you have to complete under the Sit bar, and the number on the bar shows how many there are. Tap the document icon on the module to read it.
Reading the module
Step 3
The module opens for you to read and learn. It is presented as an SD (Strategy Document), which offers many advantages over a traditional PDF. Its title is at the top, and its sections are listed below, each with a chat icon and a paperclip at the right.
Step 4
To show a section, tap the chevron (the small arrow) at the left of its name. The section opens and its chevron points up; tap the chevron again to hide the section.
Step 5
Open the next section the same way as you read on. Showing and hiding sections keeps the information manageable and bite-sized, so it doesn't overwhelm you.
Step 6
If you have a question, or want to leave a comment or feedback, tap the chat icon (a speech bubble with three dots) on the row it's about, just left of the paperclip. The more people use this feature, the stronger the organisation's ability to learn collaboratively, which makes it a powerful learning tool rarely found in traditional LMS platforms.
Note. SDs unlock collaborative learning: learning becomes a shared experience. The Historical Answer Archive ensures that common questions don't go unanswered: future learners can browse past discussions, find relevant answers and build on existing knowledge. Unlike traditional systems, SDs maintain Continuous Author Connectivity, so a document is never left without an owner. Even if the original author leaves the organisation, PaT automatically assigns a new owner, so questions in the chat always reach someone active and responsible.
Taking the quiz
Step 7
When you have read and understood the module, you're ready to take the test. Back on the Modules page, tap the green question mark icon on the module, to the right of the document icon. The quiz opens.
Step 8
The quiz shows one multiple-choice question at a time. Tap the answer you believe is correct, then tap Next Question, at the bottom of the screen, to go on.
Step 9
After you answer the last question and tap Next Question, PaT either congratulates you on passing, or tells you the attempt failed and highlights the questions you need to review.
Step 10
If you pass, a SUCCESS screen opens with the message Congratulations!
Step 11
If you fail, don't worry: you get another chance. Review the questions you got wrong (PaT highlights them), go back to the module and study it again, then retake the test when you're ready. If you fail a second time, you're locked out, and you need to contact your supervisor to unlock the module. They'll also give you any extra support you need.
Tip. Completing modules on your phone gives you flexibility and convenience. You can learn on the go, whether you're at home, commuting or between tasks, so it's easy to fit study into a busy schedule. The app is designed for mobile, so you can read content and complete assessments anytime, anywhere.
