Summary Five Chrome extensions make PaT work best. Ignore X-Frame headers lets apps such as Outlook open inside PaT, Lightshot takes and annotates screenshots, Loom records short screen videos, and Message Viewer and PDF Viewer open emails and PDFs in the browser. Each one is added from its page in the Chrome Web Store with Add to Chrome, then pinned to the toolbar.
Steps
Introduction. Adding a few essential extensions to your Chrome browser enhances your PaT experience. There are five key extensions you'll need.
Step 1
The five extensions to add are: - Ignore X-Frame headers: lets you view iframes directly in PaT's main workspace, which is essential for integrating apps like Outlook, Google Drive and more. - Lightshot: a powerful screenshot tool that lets you capture any webpage and annotate it with arrows, boxes, circles and text. It is perfect for bug reports, training materials or explanations. - Loom: a free screen recording app (up to 20 videos, 5 minutes each). Use it to quickly explain issues like PaT bugs, user flow problems or training guides, showing exactly where to find or do something in any web-based app. - Message Viewer: opens and reads email files such as .msg or .eml directly in your browser, so you can view exported messages, client correspondence or email-based approvals without installing Outlook. - PDF Viewer: lets you open, view and scroll through PDF files directly in your browser. It is perfect for quickly reviewing contracts, policies, SOPs and training documents without downloading them or switching apps.
Adding an extension to Chrome
Step 2
Each extension is added from its own page in the Chrome Web Store. Open the store page for each of these in turn: Ignore X-Frame headers, Lightshot, Loom, Message Viewer Pro and PDF Viewer.
Step 3
The setup is the same for all five extensions. On the extension's page, click Add to Chrome, the blue button at the top right, level with the extension's name.
Step 4
A box pops up asking whether to add the extension, and listing what it can do. Click Add extension, at the bottom right of the box.
Step 5
When the download is complete, a message confirms that the extension has been added to Chrome.
Step 6
Open your Extensions list in Chrome and find the newly added extension. Click the pin icon to the right of its name to pin it to your Chrome toolbar, for quick and easy access.
Using Lightshot and Loom
Step 7
To use Lightshot, first capture a selected area: click and drag to select the part of the screen you want to screenshot. You can then draw on the screenshot, add lines and arrows, insert text, highlight areas, and use rectangles and other shapes. Save or copy the screenshot, or share it instantly.
Step 8
To use Loom, click the Loom icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the recording options. Select your recording mode, and choose a tab, a window or the full screen. Click Start Recording; you can pause or resume at any time. Click the Loom icon or the stop button to finish. Your video is automatically uploaded to Loom's cloud for editing, commenting and sharing. After recording, you can trim unnecessary sections, blur sensitive details, or delete the video if needed.
Step 9
The other three extensions, Ignore X-Frame headers, Message Viewer and PDF Viewer, run automatically in the background, and need no setup or adjustments.
Step 10
With all five extensions added and set up, you can integrate web apps into PaT, view all kinds of files, capture and annotate screenshots, and record quick explainer videos, all within your workflow.
