Summary The PaT mobile app, myPaT, lets you use PaT away from your desk. You download it from the App Store or Play Store, log in, and it opens on your bulletin board. From the bulletin board you can reach your notes, the Doc Store, your tasks, notifications, modules, chats, your video room and global search, and the round + button adds a task, a bulletin board post, a hazard or accident report, or a form. The module also shows how to keep notes, and how to reply to an existing chat with files and links.
Steps
Introduction. The PaT mobile app lets you use PaT wherever your day takes you. Add a task as soon as you think of it, carry out an audit away from your desk, or add a task to an existing Strategy Document (SD).
Tip. If you come across a hazard, or need to record an accident or incident, report it in PaT's online work safety hub from the app, on the spot.
Note. The app is not a cut-down version of the desktop app. You can chat, create tasks, keep up with Bulletin Board posts and open SDs. Creating and editing SDs is best done in the desktop app.
Step 1
On your phone, open the App Store or the Play Store and search for "mypat". Download the app, which is listed as myPaT.
Note. PaT is a native app: it lives on your phone, which is why you download it from a store. Web apps run in a browser and need a full-time web connection. Native apps cost more to build but are much faster. Unlike many native apps, which you have to update yourself from time to time, the PaT app updates automatically in the background.
Step 2
Open the app. On the login screen, enter your username in the top white box and your password in the box below it.
Step 3
Tap Login, the button below the password box.
Step 4
When your phone asks whether PaT may send you notifications, tap Allow.
Finding your way around
Step 5
The app opens on your bulletin board. Its menus are at the top of the screen, and three buttons sit in a bar along the bottom.
Step 6
Near the top of the screen, a grey bar opens Notes, Doc Store, To Do and To Manage (your Tasks To Do and Tasks To Manage).
Step 7
Above the grey bar, to the right of the three-line icon at the top left, is a row of five icons. From left to right, they open Notifications (the bell), Modules (the light bulb), New Tasks, Chat (two speech bubbles) and Tasks to Close (the tick).
Step 8
Tap the video camera button at the bottom left of the screen to enter your video room, invite a user to your room, or find another user's room.
Step 9
The magnifying glass at the bottom right of the screen is the global search. Use it to search for Strategy Documents and templates.
Step 10
The round + button in the middle of the bottom bar lets you add a task, add a bulletin board post, notify a hazard or near miss, report an accident, or start a form or survey.
Keeping notes
Step 11
To keep notes, tap Notes at the left end of the grey bar. Your notepad opens.
Step 12
To start a new set of notes, tap the round + at the top right of the notepad, next to the search box.
Step 13
A box highlighted in yellow appears, ready for a title. Type the title of your set of notes in it.
Step 14
Tap the arrow at the right end of the yellow box.
Step 15
The set of notes now sits at the top of the notepad, shaded grey. The grey shading shows it is the set you are working in.
Step 16
To add a note to the set, type it in the add a note here ... box at the bottom of the screen, then tap the arrow at the right end of that box.
Step 17
The note appears in the set, below the grey bar that shows the date.
Step 18
To speak a note instead of typing it, tap the microphone on your phone's keyboard, if your phone has voice to text.
Replying to a chat
Step 19
To reply to a chat, go to the bulletin board and tap the Chat icon (two speech bubbles) in the row of icons at the top.
Step 20
The Chats list opens, with a Search for a Chat box at the top. You can't start a new chat from the app, but you can reply in any chat you already have.
Step 21
Tap the chat you want to reply in. The chat opens, showing its messages.
Step 22
Tap the edit button (a pencil on a square) at the bottom right of the screen, just to the right of the paperclip. The message editor opens.
Step 23
At the top of the editor, select who the message is sent to, using the box next to each person's name. Then type your message in the large white box below the formatting buttons.
Step 24
To attach a file, tap the + button, the first of the three dark buttons below the message box. The What do you want to upload? box opens.
Step 25
Choose the type of file to upload: Camera, Photo, Video, Audio or GIF. To close the box without uploading anything, tap Cancel.
Step 26
To add a URL link, tap the link button (a chain link), just to the right of the + button.
Step 27
When your message is ready, tap post comment, the wide button at the right of the row.
